Having the Bagpipes played at a wedding is become very popular all over England and not just Scotland.
A bagpiper isn’t the main source of entertainment of the wedding it is in addition. Traditionally the bagpiper will pipe the guest’s in and out of the ceremony usually to a medley of traditional Scottish marches which could include - Scotland the Brave, the Barren Rocks of Allen, Maries Wedding, the Green Hills of Tyrol, Bonnie Soldier etc....and can pipe the bride down the aisle and while the couple sign the register and finally to pipe to the newlywed couple out of the ceremony.
If the bride is being piped down the aisle this is generally to the tune of Flower of Scotland but can be the bride’s choice but when requesting a special tune you do have to bear in mind if the tune lends itself to being played on the bagpipes.
If the bagpipes are being used as background music during the photo’s this is usually a medley of jigs, marches and reels.
If you wish to choose your own pieces to be played it is worth getting a CD of bagpipe music to see which pieces you prefer.
All bagpipers will have a set tartan clan that they will where, it is worth checking with them the colour just so you can bear it in mind with your colour scheme.
