Wedding Filming Advice
What are the key elements to finding a great wedding filming company to capture your day?
Over the last 25 years, wedding filming has come a long way, a lot of professional companies now, are making wedding films better than most budget TV programmes. So how do you find the right company?
We always suggest clients come to the studio and meet the person who will be either editing or filming on your day, that way the client can compile a list of questions to ask, see some recent work and meet the person who will be involved in sharing their day and more importantly getting ideas from each other of how the day will unfold.
You should start by asking how the operator goes about filming, will he be unobtrusive? Does he have to use lighting? How many assistants, if any, will there be?
The couple should explain how they have planned the day, with that information the director should explain what to expect in terms of walking through the shots he might expect to capture, which has many positive outcomes, firstly to allay any fears from folk stories about badly produced films from others companies they have heard about, secondly to allow the couple to vividly imagine him being there in their minds, so when the day is fully explained from the directors perspective, they have already walked it through and are happy, also we try to get to know as much information about the couple and their family and friends as possible, that way, we, and the clients, know what to expect and they can (and this is THE most important part for any camera operator), relax on the day and be themselves, the operator should just blend in and be treated inadvertently like a guest attending the day, so the camera is no big deal.
Saying all that, it is still crucial to be as unobtrusive as possible, a very focused but relaxed attitude allows the operator to blend and help people feel relaxed and be themselves around the camera, most of the time people are unaware, but nowadays with reality TV, CCTV everywhere we are used to being filmed. So it is much easier than it was when wedding films started over 25 years ago.

So after the filming completed it is into the edit suite, each operator in the company should have editing experience, otherwise, there is something lost between filming and editing if you cannot do both, as this is where you make great footage even more amazing by complimenting it with music the couple have provided which of course is personal to them and will then forever be a reminder of the wedding film when heard elsewhere.
With the sequences cut perfectly so they flow so the viewer becomes unaware and immersed in the film. The music is the completion of the emotional element, as we all know music brings on emotional responses, just like when you watch a movie.
It truly is the best memory you can buy for your day and as the years pass it will become more valuable and more precious, that is one reason why we the company you choose should always keep two master copies one on DVD and one on a high quality professional digital tape format,

just in case.
So all in all, when looking for a company to be there and share your day with you, make sure they are as passionate about it as you are.
Why Should I...?
Many times people ask, "Why should I bother having my wedding videotaped?" - "I'm going to have my picture album to look at." The answer to this is very simple: How much would it be worth to you to see a film of your parents' wedding, your grandparents',
or even your great-grandparents' wedding? Ten years ago, nobody would have considered not hiring a photographer. The photographer was the only choice for capturing wedding moments. Today, however, you have more choices.
Voices From a Bygone Time
If you could add sound and motion to your still pictures, you'd call this video. If you had a choice between seeing pictures of your grandparents' wedding, or actually seeing what your grandparents were doing during their wedding day, and hearing their voices again from a bygone time, which one would you choose?
Your Children and Grandchildren
If you want your children and grandchildren to know about your wedding day, don't you think you'd like them to be able to hear your vows, enjoy your wedding day music, cry along with you as you did when you and your father danced together, and laugh with you and your guests as you enjoy the day's festivities? A finely crafted video will not only capture the essence of the day, the sights, sounds, and emotions, but will be cherished by your family now and for years to come. Your wedding video is forever.
Like a Gentle Spring Rain
Memories are fleeting things, passing through our lives like a spring rain. So much will happen, that you will only remember bits and pieces of your wedding day. The wedding videographer is your portal back to your special day, the one who remembers the kaleidoscope of your wedding festivities, the one who remembers for those yet to come. Isn't it worth it for you to capture all these events of your truly most unforgettable moment? "Absolutely! - You cannot be without it!!
