1. Make a list.

The more organised you are the better. Start with the 5 basic “who, what, where, when and how questions”.  Who will you invite, what sort of theme do you want whether formal or informal, religious or civil, where do you want to hold your wedding, when will it be and how will you pay for it!  These 5 basic questions will help you get started.

2. Start early.

The best venues and suppliers book up months in advance. Also, planning a large event takes a lot of time! Start shopping for your wedding dress straight away to avoid disappointment and get written confirmation that the shop has ordered it with the expected delivery date.

3. Delegate.

For busy couples with full time jobs, planning a wedding can soon become overwhelming.  A professionally qualified wedding planner will take care of all the hard work leaving you to relax and enjoy the whole process.  Wedding  planners can also save you money and advise you on the best deals and discounts available.  Involve your fiancé too and then use reliable friends and family members to assist.  “Brides-maids” are there for a reason.

4. Budget.

Sticking to a realistic budget will minimise the stress and worry of how to pay for everything.  Set your priorities, for example, if your dress or the photographs is the most important thing decide the amount you want to spend on that first then fill in the other boxes accordingly.  You can hire a professional wedding planner just to help you with this part of the planning process if you find it stressful.

5. Be organised.

Start a wedding file immediately and keep a record of all appointments, expenditure, planning ideas, suppliers details etc.

By sticking to these 5 basic points you will minimise your stress.
