Choosing Your Wedding Date

Once you have decided to get married the first big decision to make is to set the date.

Before setting the date you will need to consider what sort of wedding you want. A big church wedding will take a lot more planning than a small intimate register office. So the first thing to think about is giving you enough time to plan and arrange the wedding and of course save for it.

Most weddings take place on a Saturday between April and September, so your guests may be invited to another wedding on your intended date or have holiday commitments. As this only actually offers approx 26 days in the year the popular venues suppliers will be booked up and sometimes are booking 2 years in advance.

Whilst most people prefer to marry on a Saturday, a weekday or a Sunday would give you far more choice and may also mean you can negotiate a better price with your venue or suppliers. One drawback with a weekday wedding is that some people may not be able to get the day off work.

It is a good idea to chat with your family and friends to see if there is any dates that are not convenient for them or any upcoming holidays or birthdays that should be avoided.

The British Weather can be unpredictable and can cause chaos with the best laid plans. Check the records for the previous years for the month you are considering to see the rain fall or winds......

It is also worth thinking other dates for well known sporting events etc........World Cup Football or the finals of Wimbledon do you do not want your guests or Groom distracted but such things.
